Abstract :
Depression is a significant contributor to disease and disability on a global scale, with a particularly high prevalence among children and adolescents. In this study, we delve into the concept and explanations of depression, focusing on the specific tools used to assess its presence, preventative efforts based in schools, and various approaches to clinical treatment. Through research, we have found striking similarities between depression in infants and adults, emphasizing the importance of considering multiple factors for a comprehensive understanding. To effectively address and prevent depression, multifaceted methods must be employed, with universal programs being particularly advantageous due to their wide-reaching impact. The increasing prevalence of depression can potentially be attributed to detrimental interpersonal relationships and changing societal and cultural standards. It is highly recommended to prioritize the establishment and execution of prevention programs, as well as the incorporation of advanced diagnostic measures. Additionally, the majority of treatment methods are advancing in effectiveness and comprehensiveness. Given that depressive symptoms may manifest in early childhood, further research is necessary to identify the biological, psychological, and social factors that play a role in the development, progression, and treatment of depression.
