Abstract :
Today, building information modeling (BIM) has found a wide application from design and construction to operation and even the demolition stage of buildings. This technology helps the project manager and stakeholders to make the right decision at every stage by displaying the building s characteristics digitally. BIM is a digital representation of the physical and functional characteristics of a building and a shared knowledge source for building information that forms a reliable basis for decision-making throughout the project life cycle. Considering this wide range as well as the numerous applications of this technology, this article examines the applications and benefits of this model in the industry and field of architecture and construction.
