Abstract :
Main: In this regard, the current research aims to predict identity style and body image based on attachment styles and parenting styles of adolescents. Materials and methods: The statistical population includes all adolescents aged 12 to 18 living in Isfahan city. Two hundred (130girls and 70 boys, range of 13 to 17 years (70.6%)) of them were selected by Convenience sampling method. After selecting the sample, Berzonsky s identity style, Littleton s fear of body image, Collins and Read s attachment style, and Baumrind s parenting styles questionnaires were administered to the subjects. Findings: According to the results of Pearson s correlation coefficient and regression, attachment styles have a negative and significant effect on the identity style of adolescents(with Regression coefficient: -.420 ,Critical value: -4.027) and, attachment styles have a positive and significant effect on their body image(Regression coefficient :0.593, Critical value: 4.933). Parenting styles have a positive and significant effect on the identity style(Regression coefficient: 0.603, Critical value: 5.263). Moreover, parenting styles have a negative and significant effect on the body image of adolescents(Regression coefficient: 0.411 , Critical value: -3.704)(p=0.01). Conclusion: These findings indicate the role of secure 1attachment and parental love in adolescents achieving a successful identity and avoiding identity confusion as well as a desirable body image of themselves, Also, it emphasizes the need to inform parents and adolescents through family education programs.
