Abstract :
Abstract Anxiety in the career of nursing, given the important role of nurses in caring and protecting patients, can have significant impacts on their lives. The current study aims at investigating the role of mindfulness and emotional processing in predicting anxious thoughts of nurses. This descriptive study is of correlation kind. The statistical population was all nurses in Ardebil hospitals. Research sample consisted of 130 nurses who were selected randomly. They were all asked to fill out the mindfulness, emotional processing and anxious thoughts questionnaire. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation and multiple regression method in SPSS/16 software. A meaningful relationship was observed between mindfulness (r=-0.32), emotional processing (r=0.23) and anxious thoughts (P>0.05). In a predictive model, merely mindfulness and emotional processing could explicate about 42percent of anxious thoughts variance. Therefore, mindfulness and emotional processing had meaningful relationships with anxious thoughts respectively.
