Abstract :
Today use of water-based acrylic resins is very interested in the world due to their desired coating properties and the least environmental risks. Synthesis of acrylics by emulsion method has already been studied using thermal and redox initiator to lower the reaction temperature to the room temperature. The main objective of this study is to prepare a stabilized latex of butyl acrylate (BA), methyl methacrylate (MMA) and styrene (St) terpolymer of desired properties. In this research mini-emulsion polymerization technique was employed using TBHP/Fe+2/EDTA/SFS redox initiator at room temperature. Chemical compositions of samples were identified using FT-IR method. Considering the results of DSC test observed that copolymerization produces a special block structure showing two different glass transition temperatures.
