Abstract :
Cement production is a polluting process for the environment. So the percentage of pollution would decrease by decreasing cement consumption. Since building industry has many environmental effects due to high consumption of energy and resources, one of the important strategies is to use environmental-friendly concrete, or green concrete, which provides the infrastructure of construction with decreased emission of pollutants such as carbon dioxide. This study addresses the substitution of fly ash in green concrete with cement as the amount of pollution and destructive effects on the environment would decrease by decreasing cement consumption. Using fly ash in concrete helps decreasing the emission of pollutants, namely carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases, and reducing its negative impacts on the environment. Replacing cement with fly ash in large scale results in higher quality of the new green cements and biding materials by increasing the use of raw materials and developing alternative fuels, enforced by cement, with lower energy consumption.
