Abstract :
This paper applies Imperialist Competitive Algorithm (ICA) as an optimization algorithm to set PI controllers parameters of an isolated Wind Diesel Hybrid System (WDHS). The main system consists of a diesel generator (DG), a Wind Turbine Generator (WTG), a dump load, and a battery system. ICA has successfully applied to option optimal PI coefficients. Several severe load changes have been considered to assess the frequency response of the system. Also, wind speed has been changed several times and it has been shown that the proposed method regulates the frequency of the system very well in spite of several load disturbances and wind speed fluctuation. The proposed method has been compared with a similar research paper and the result has shown a significant improvement in frequency response.
Keywords : Wind Turbine Diesel Generator ICA frequency response.
