The influence of T shear connector’s position on capacity and ductility of composite beam

Abstract :
This paper investigates the ultimate strength and behavior of the T shape shear connectors under different position. A nonlinear finite element model of the push-out specimens is developed and verified against test results. The finite element model is used to investigate the effects of T shape shear connector position on the ultimate capacity of the connectors. Further, the influence of T shape shear connector size has been investigated. The results is shown that T connectors have better performance in transferring shear forces rather than the channel and stud connectors. Also size of connectors is one of the main parameter in the capacity for the bearing shear force.
