Abstract :
A linear array including 2M fully equidistant elements was synthesized via different methods and the obtained results compared. Synthesis of an array is defined as the determination of amplitude and phase angle of the excitation current applied to the array elements in such a way that the array pattern shape would exhibit the required characteristics. This article synthesized the narrow beam linear array patterns. Therefore, we seek to obtain the following: 1) how much is the side lobe level reduced as compared with that of the main and, 2) how narrow is the half-power beam width in the main lobe . In all the conducted simulations, we assumed a similar excitation current phase for all the array elements and that they were different only in their excitation amplitudes.
