چکیده :
The pounding failure is one of the most typical types of damages in buildings during earthquakes. This phenomenon occurs when two adjacent buildings have insufficient separation distance between each other. In this paper, two adjacent reinforced concrete buildings were modelled using a damper to control buildings and decrease lateral displacement for avoiding collisions. The investigated structures were subjected to Kobe near-fault ground motions. Buildings were analyzed with and without damper and lateral displacement were selected. The results of this investigation are compared with each other to show the effectiveness of damper.
