Abstract :
Analytical procedures for estimating the plastic moments of intermediate HBEs under equal an unequal top and bottom tension fields of SPSWs have been developed in this paper. Those procedures are based on classic plastic analysis and rely on calculation of the reduced axial yield strength of HBE web accounting for the presence of shear and vertical stresses. For finite element checking, the selected beams in plastic analysis , is modeled in ABAQUS software. Results from plastic analysis were shown to agree well with the results from finite element analysis. Implementation of the developed analytical procedure is necessary to achieve capacity design of HBE-to-VBE connections, which ensures desirable performance of HBEs like weak beam and strong column theory , that is mentioned in most building codes.
