Abstract :
Abstract. This paper presents optimal siting and sizing of predefined number of Distributed Generation (DG) using Cuckoo Search Algorithm (CSA). This paper aims to minimize active power loss by placing DG strategically in a radial distribution system. The problem formulation considers an objective to reduce power loss costs of distribution systems. Numerical results show that the performance of the proposed algorithm is better than the other references. The performance of the method is tested on 33and 69-bus test systems and comparison of the results with LSF (loss sensitivity factor), IA (improved analytical), ABC (Artificial Bee Colony), APSO (Adaptive Weight Particle Swarm Optimization) and ELF (exhaustive load flow) reveals that the proposed method yields superior results.
