Abstract :
Sustainable development is perhaps one of the most important contemporary trends, which is a logical reaction to the problems of the industrial era, an era characterized by shortage of energy and water resources, air and land pollution and the destruction of the environment, and reduced quality of life and most importantly the possible threat facing the needs of future generations. In the meantime, one way to achieve sustainability in architecture is construction of intelligent buildings using the latest technologies and nanotechnology. Intelligent Building is aware of the conditions inside and outside the building and based on the needs and demands of users, it tries to control and change it in favor of the users. In addition to using the latest technologies, nanotechnology has a special place in architecture because this technology has a fundamental approach to changing of the materials and in consistence with the reduction of the harms and an increase in efficiency and benefits. The aim of this study was to investigate the Nano in the world and its introduction and development in the building industry in Iran. For such purpose, first, a description of the importance of sustainable architecture and intelligent building and its background and roots in Iran and the world is provided; and then fundamentals of construction of intelligent building and ways to reach it and materials were discucssed, and smart materials and application and examples implemented in use of nanotechnology in construction are described.
