Streams Restoration Role in Providing Environmental Resources of the City

Abstract :
Abstract This study seeks to examine the effects of Jajrood stream restoration in environmental dimension. This is an applied research, done in descriptive-analytical method. The population includes citizens and the people who live in the path of Jajrood stream and those who visit the area for the enjoyment of these spaces or are somehow connected. Because of the uncertainty of the number of population, according to a consultation with a number of experts and professors, the sample size was estimated 350 people. A questionnaire consisted of 14 items was used for data collection. The content validity of the questionnaire was examined and scrutinized according to the professionals and experts and then approved. Then, the reliability was assessed using 30 pre-test questionnaires; Cronbach s alpha value for the environment dimension was obtained 0.879. For data analysis and hypothesis testing, descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation) and inferential test (single-sample T) were used by the application of SPSS software. The results showed that Jajrood stream restoration could be effective in preparation of city s environmental resources. It can be concluded from the respondents’ standpoints that Jajrood stream restoration could partly succeeded in achieving sustainable development in the region.
