Predicting the Tourism Value through Zonal Travel Cost Model (Persepolis Tourism Region as a Case Study)

Abstract :
Nowadays, tourism is considered as one of the most profit-making industries for both developed and developing countries. This industry also is one of the effective industries on the cultural exchange among different countries. This is why that tourism industry has a very important and comprehensive role across the world. The growth and development of this industry needs studying its different aspects. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to estimate the tourism value of Persepolis tourism region. In order to this, the zonal travel cost model has been used. The research data has been collected through a self-administrated questionnaire. The statistical population of this study includes all of the tourists that have traveled to Persepolis tourism region in the first season of 2012. A sample of 280 tourists was selected randomly. In order to estimate the travel costs, zonal travel cost model has been used. This study is a casual research and because of this its methodology is descriptive method. The results of this study revealed that the travel cost to Persepolis tourism region is 14876033 Rials. Also the results revealed that there several factors affecting estimation of travel cost such as income, willingness to pay, and educational levels. Also the results indicate that age, marital status, and gender had not effect on the estimation of travel cost.
