Abstract :
The issue of protecting structure against blast loading is gaining interest in civil engineering. In this study the authors present a retrofitting scheme to prevent collapse of shear wall under blast loading. The proposed scheme is summarized by connecting the back of the shear wall with steel frame parallel to the shear wall. The computer program ABAQUS is used to model and analyze the structure and ConWep techniques is used in simulations to predict blast loads on structure. The investigation results show the effectiveness of the proposed retrofitting method for the shear wall example in this study. Analysis results show that Compressive damage, Maximum stress in the reinforcement and maximum displacement are decreased for the retrofitted models.
