Abstract :
In today’s world, environmental crises such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and excessive exploitation of natural resources pose serious threats to the environment and human survival. In this context, artificial intelligence (AI) emerges as a transformative technology with significant potential to enhance conservation efforts and promote sustainable resource management. Integrating AI as an innovative tool can drastically improve environmental protection strategies. This paper analyzes the applications of AI in environmental protection, aiming to assess its transformative capabilities in promoting and strengthening sustainable practices. Using descriptive and analytical methods, the study examines scientific articles, case studies, and successful experiences in applying AI to various areas of environmental conservation. The study’s key findings indicate that AI can effectively contribute to improving natural resource management, protecting biodiversity, mitigating climate change, and advancing sustainable management approaches. Specifically, AI can optimize resource management processes, simulate and predict environmental trends, facilitate the collection and analysis of biodiversity data, and enhance monitoring systems, thereby increasing the efficiency of conservation efforts. However, the paper also explores the challenges associated with using AI in environmental protection. These challenges include ethical concerns, cybersecurity risks, and privacy issues, which necessitate the development of appropriate legal and ethical frameworks for the responsible use of AI technologies. Furthermore, the study emphasizes the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and the development of ethical AI solutions. To overcome these challenges and maximize the benefits of AI in environmental protection, the adoption of comprehensive and ethical strategies is essential. The research findings highlight AI’s potential as an effective tool for addressing environmental crises and preserving natural resources, provided that its implementation follows an integrated, ethical, and security-conscious approach. Finally, the paper presents recommendations for future research, including fostering collaborations across different fields, prioritizing ethical considerations in AI development, and increasing AI literacy among environmental activists.
