Abstract :
This research conducts a fundamental analysis of the correlation between light and color in the Orphic style based on Gestalt theory, examining how these principles manifest in the visual structure and perception of Simultaneous Windows by Robert Delaunay. The Orphic style, which emphasizes harmony among light, color, and movement, creates a unified visual experience for the audience through dynamic compositions and the use of pure colors. Accordingly, this study seeks to address the fundamental question: What are the essential characteristics of the correlation between light and color as defining elements of the Orphic style from the perspective of Gestalt theory, and how do they manifest in the visual structure and perception of Simultaneous Windows by Robert Delaunay? The primary objective of this research is to analyze the fundamental correlation between light and color in the Orphic style from the viewpoint of Gestalt theory and to examine how these principles are articulated in the visual structure and perception of Simultaneous Windows. This study adopts a descriptive-analytical approach and employs library and documentary research methods for data collection. The analysis of information is conducted through the review of artistic and historical texts, images, and credible online sources. Utilizing the theoretical foundations of Gestalt, this study explores the role of visual elements such as proximity, similarity, continuity, and closure in creating unity and dynamism in the artwork. The findings indicate that Delaunay, by applying Gestalt principles—particularly figure-ground differentiation, continuity, proximity, similarity, and closure—has successfully produced a dynamic composition of light and color. This approach not only conveys movement and rhythm in the artwork but also aids the audience s cognitive process in perceiving its wholeness. Among these principles, closure enables the viewer s eye to complete unfinished colors and forms, while continuity effectively guides visual paths in a coherent manner. Ultimately, this research confirms that the Orphic style, in alignment with Gestalt principles, presents the correlation between light and color not as independent elements but as a unified perceptual whole, offering an integrated and dynamic visual experience for the audience.
