Abstract :
This study aims to evaluate the performance of self-healing smart materials in the sustainable rehabilitation of urban stormwater channels and to compare their behavior in geotechnical and concrete environments. Initially, the physical, mechanical, and self-healing properties of these materials were investigated at the laboratory scale. Subsequently, the effects of substrate type, moisture content, and repeated stress cycles on the self-healing efficiency were analyzed. The results indicated that smart materials exhibited higher healing efficiency in concrete environments compared to geotechnical settings, leading to reduced permeability and enhanced structural durability. Overall, the application of these materials can provide a sustainable and cost-effective solution for improving resistance and reducing maintenance needs in urban infrastructure, particularly stormwater channels.
