Abstract :
The purpose of this research was the effect of stress coping skills training on mental health and quality of life in patients with asthma. The method of the current research was a semi-experimental research. The statistical population included patients with asthma in Shiraz city who referred to medical centers in 1402-1403 and were diagnosed with asthma by Shiraz medical centers. First, 40 patients with asthma who were selected by purposive sampling and randomly divided into experimental and control groups by lottery. And they were randomly divided into the experimental group (20 patients with asthma) and the control group (20 patients with asthma) and the experimental group was included in the stress coping skills training intervention. Pre-test and post-test were performed for both groups. Goldberg s general health questionnaire (1972), World Health Organization s quality of life was implemented on them and the data were analyzed using covariance analysis. The findings showed that according to the decrease in the average dimensions of mental disorders of the experimental group in the post-test stage, in other words, teaching stress coping skills has a significant effect on the reduction of mental disorders in patients with asthma, and also according to the increase in the average dimensions of quality The life of the experimental group in the post-test phase, in other words, teaching stress coping skills has a significant effect on increasing the quality of life in patients with asthma. Considering the nature of asthma and the necessity of continuing health care, improving the quality of life can help prevent the progression of this disease and use effective coping responses to help people overcome physical-psychological problems, interpersonal social relationships, and personal conflicts. does
