Abstract :
Background and Purpose:
One of the most stressful factors of our society is job; a diabetic patient is more vulnerable against these stressful factors rather than ordinary people. The statistic population included 124 patients with type 2 diabetes whose information have been registered in the health records in urban and rural health care centers in Larestan, and a healthy person was selected systematic randomly for comparison with each patient in terms of similarity of age, gender and occupational status. Standard job stress questionnaire of England Health and Safety Executive institute was used to collect information related to job stress, and the related information about the life quality was prepared by quality of life questionnaire called SF-36, and then the data was analyzed using SPSS v. 21 software and independent t-tests and chi-square analysis. Results of quantitative and qualitative variables were reported as mean ± standard deviation and number (%), respectively. Independent two-sample t-test was used to compare mean of job stress and quality of life parameters in subjects with type 2 diabetes and healthy one.
Results:
The results showed that the mean and standard deviation of the life quality was 19.20 ± 57.42 and 15.62 ±69.02 in diabetic and healthy subjects, respectively, which is significant (P <0.001). The scores of all aspects of patients’ life quality was significantly lower than healthy subjects (P <0. 01). There was difference between these two groups in all aspects of job stress questionnaires, such as: role, communication, managerial support, peer support, control, demand and changes. There is a difference between diabetic and healthy subjects in the frequency of stressful factors. Also, there is a difference between diabetic and healthy subjects in severity of stressful factors.
