Caravanserai s media role analysis from Marshal McLuhan s perspective

Abstract :
    The karavanserai has several roles in the context of Iranian architecture studies; one of its most important features is the role of communication. Caravans during their common transactions also transmitted their experiences. But what upgraded this was the design and architectural design of the caravanserai, which, like a small-scale metropolitan area, also provided civilizational interactions outside the city. The purpose of this paper is to decode the consequences of the caravanserai by using Marshall McLuhan s views. Because he spoke in his theories of three-dimensional communication galaxies that always sparked the fate of human interactions. This research seeks to find concepts that both capture the qualities presented in the caravanserai architecture and provide a suitable platform for analyzing its media system. Structural and conceptual-spatial hierarchy exists in the caravanserai media, which coincides with McLuhan s oral galaxy and provides audio-visual viewing among humans as a village, the most important of which are porches of the four.
