Abstract :
Nowadays, energy has become a key necessity and its supply has turn into one of the main concern of governments. Upgrading existing gas power plants into CCPPs is amongst action can be taken to enhance the power generation efficiency. Combined cycle power plants power output alter from environmental conditions. One of the ways to overcome this loss is to implement supplementary firing in heat recovery steam generator. In this research by simulating Shirvan CCPP, we observe the power output of gas turbine is reduced from nominal value of 159 MW to 138 MV due to installation in 1036 m altitude. Moreover, temperature & flow rate of outlet flue gas deviates from design value and as the consequence in HP section of HRSG 108 kg/s steam is produced instead of designed flow rate of 134 kg/s which in turn reduces the power output of steam turbine. Here, simulation shows the power generated by steam turbine reduces from 160 MW to 134 MW and to compensate this deficiency additional value of 0.7 kg/s fuel must be burnt in duct burner. We also calculate amount of required fuel needed to be supplied to burners to overcome de-rate of unit in hot months.
