Abstract :
The entrance space is one of the main parts of the buildings, which is always the starting point of the audience s relationship with the work, which, in addition to the traffic function, shows the control, supervision and identity of the complex. The entrance in traditional Iranian architecture is an important element that is known as the communication space between the building and the urban spaces and is often a criterion for recognizing the architectural and social value and identity of each building, especially in cities with a dense and continuous texture. The entrance spaces in traditional Iranian architecture are so important that an important part of the development and evolution of Iranian architecture can be seen in them. For this purpose, this research has been conducted with the aim of identifying the necessities, types and characteristics of inputs in Iranian architecture from the perspective of environmental psychology. The research method of this research is of a qualitative type with a descriptive-analytical approach, which was carried out using library study methods. The results of the research indicate that the entrances were built in different periods with the purpose of identification, legibility, invitation, message transfer, sense of belonging, German and symbolic. In this regard, the entrances, in addition to having an important role in familiarizing the landmark building, with design criteria such as strength, security, beauty, transparency and easy access, have psychologically raised a favorable visual effect for the audience. Therefore, as much as possible, more attention should be paid to the principles, criteria and quality of design from the psychological dimension in the construction of entrances. Because the lack of attention to psychological criteria causes not only that the entrance space is not a good representative for the type of use and function of the place, but also that it does not have the necessary capabilities and characteristics to become an urban landmark, and the sense of belonging and security to the place is weaker in the minds of the audience. to be
