Abstract :
The aim of this study was to model the relationship between academic stress and academic burnout with the mediating role of academic self-efficacy among high school students in Behshahr. The statistical population of the study included all high school students in Behshahr in the academic year 2023-2024. Based on Krejcie and Morgan s table, a sample of 345 students was selected through stratified random sampling based on gender. They responded to the Academic Stress Questionnaire by Zajacova et al. (2009), the Academic Burnout Questionnaire by Breso et al. (1997), and the Academic Self-Efficacy Questionnaire by McIlroy and Bunting (2002). Data analysis was conducted using structural equation modeling with AMOS software (version 24). The findings showed that the model had a good fit with the research data and that academic stress had a direct effect on academic burnout and academic self-efficacy of the students. The indirect effect of academic stress on academic burnout through the mediation of academic self-efficacy was also significant. Therefore, it can be concluded that academic stress can affect academic burnout both directly and indirectly through academic self-efficacy among students.
