Abstract :
Abstract If the sixteenth century was known as the era of Renaissance and the eighteenth century as the Industrial Revolution s epoch, undoubtedly the twenty first century should be called the mere era of urbanization. The global community is rapidly becoming a purely urbanized community the start of which, based on the historical documentation, was with the advent of industrial revolution. On the other hand, statistics show that there is an unprecedented increase in natural hazards and financial and bodily damages, leading to maximum damages to stable urban communities. Often, this is due to lack of awareness or familiarity of authorities, people and private entities concerning geomorphology, and the correct way of exploitation based on the ecological potential of the Land, suffering from many natural disasters such as floods, landslides, Earthquakes and etc. This study tries to critically examine the reasons of not using or utilizing the knowledge of geomorphology in reducing the natural hazards in the country. It, also, through using a descriptive-analytical method, library resources and discussing with professors of geography and geomorphology, deals with geomorphic principles and the tasks of geomorphologists, as well as factors affecting on their role in macro and micro planning.
