Abstract :
Chemotherapeutic drugs in short term have toxic side effects on normal tissues and in long term, drug resistance of cancerous cells restricts drugs efficacy in cancer treatment, so research for efficient and safe drug delivery systems that be able to deliver drugs just to cancerous area play a vital role in accomplish the goal of cancer treatment namely to make the drugs more effective on cancerous area and to reduce the side effects. In this Review we will discuss about special properties of Graphene Quantum Dots(GQDs) that paid so much attention in many fields, especially in biomedicine for smart drug delivery, then a number of methods for GQDs synthesis is discussed and in final general methods for smart drug delivery and producing smart GQDs that are modified with special tumor targeting ligands is considered.
