Abstract :
Corrosion imposes itself on many parts of our lives. The damage it inflicts is very obvious, and the economic costs of the corrosion seem to be enormous. Corrosion can cause hazardous and expensive damages to infrastructure, ships, aircraft, waterways, hazardous materials reservoirs, oil and gas industry, drinking water, etc. Also, the damage from corrosion annually is billions of dollars. The economic factor is the significant object for much of the common research on corrosion. Therefore, the problem of corrosion, particularly in oil and gas industry is a big challenge and must be greatly tackled Clearly, prevention is the best way to combat it. There are different ways to prevent or avoid the corrosion of the metal surface. This review summarizes the effect of corrosion in oil and gas industry. A variety of preventive methods against corrosive attacks on metallic materials such as anti corrosive coating substrates and corrosion inhibitors are discussed.
