Abstract :
A textbook is one of the written educational materials that is made available to its users based on certain programs and specific goals.After the Islamic revolution in Iran , the curricula and then the textbooks have undergone successive changes. The table of study and exam materials and teaching hours of the academic levels was changed in 1359, 1365, 1368 and 1373 and was approved by the Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution in 1382. But except for a few books, generally the textbooks that were written for different courses since 1345 with the change of the system were taught with minor changes and often in order to reduce the amount of content until the 1370s (Rafiei, 2012).This study Analyzing English textbooks before and after revolution in Iran with a critical discourse analysis perspective. it is based on one of the models of critical discourse analysis, that is Van Leeuwen s model (1996). it was concluded that the content of primary school textbooks, although it is at the preliminary level of education, has undergone structural changes in the period before and after the revolution, and these changes based on the culture of the Iranian society have been fulfilled to a large extent.
