Abstract :
Ethics can be regarded as one of the main branches of philosophy which is concerned with making moral decision on what is right or wrong. It is a very controversial issue regarding the innateness or non-innateness of morality, whether morality comes from an innate disposition or it is a learned construct. Concerning the innateness or non-innateness of morality, it is concluded that people have some kinds of moral faculty just like language faculty which is flourished through social interaction and environment. To put another way, just as people are equipped with universal grammar, with some principles and parameters, they are also provided with universal morality with some principles which are inherited and with parameters which varies from culture to culture and consequently from individual to individual because it is actually flourished by experience i.e. exposure to different cultures which involves different environment and social interaction. Therefore, that innate disposition should be blossomed by exposing to different cultures. Accordingly, it seems that morality would be teachable because parameters are determined by external factors and parents or caretakers can manipulate those external factors to shape children’s moral parameters. In other words, parents or caretakers should provide the children by explicit and implicit moral instructions to flourish their innate moral faculties in a better way.
