Practical framework for location selection of office firms (Case study: Industrial, mining and trade organization of Tabriz, Iran)

Abstract :
Office buildings are one of the main urban units and their location is important for ease of access, saving on city trips and reducing air pollution. This paper identifies effective criteria about office firms building characteristics and their locations within city based on users preferences and other locational factors. The main purpose is to find a comprehensive framework to determine the location of office buildings in terms of physical potentials and features of the location, building features and spatial distribution of facilities. Evaluating the location of Industrial, Mining and Trade Organization of East Azerbaijan province is based on the criteria derived from theoretical foundations. The methodology used in this paper is descriptive-analytical method based on the data extracted from library sources, survey, and field observation. Results show that different factors can affect choosing an appropriate location for office buildings that are summarized in four different categories of location and site, neighborhood, internal, and ecological. Analyzing and studying all those factors indicates that location selection decision of the case study has not met the expectations, which should be considered by the municipality of Tabriz city.
