The Effect of Using Flexbrick Material in Building Facades to Improve the Sustainability

Abstract :
Flexbrick is innovative system means a paradigm shift for ceramic architecture; a conceptual revolution that has led to the appearance of ceramic fabrics and a new architectural language. It is a flexible steel mesh in which ceramic pieces are inserted and by combining patterns, shapes, colors and texture and provides endless design possibilities. The light-permeable façade acts as a natural sunscreen and reduces solar radiation. Flexbrick can easily be recycled because it only consists of two dry woven materials, the steel mesh and the ceramic elements, which are easy to separate in order to recycle. The purpose of this article, is the effect of using Flexbrick material in building facades to improve the sustainability. The new system allows for the industrialization of a field of work that up until now relied on the traditional method of laying pieces one at a time. As it became an industrialized system, Flexbrick speeds up the construction process significantly. Furthermore, it is easy to personalized its design and structure, adjusting them to the characteristics and requirements of each project.
