Abstract :
Background and Aim: quality of life and happiness are broad concepts which encompass all aspects of life, including health. Since teachers are among the most important segments of society, this study has been done with the aim of investigating the relationship between quality of life and happiness in primary school teachers. Materials and Method: This research is a descriptive correlational. The population of this research consisted of all elementary school teachers of Chavar (located in Ilam) who were teaching in the academic year 2015-2016. Simple random sampling was used. To this end, 58 primary school teachers were selected and responded to Oxford Happiness Inventory (OHI) and quality of life questionnaire (SF-36). The data were analyzed by SPSS Software version 20 using descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation, frequency and percentage) and inferential statistics (correlation and regression). Findings: Results showed that happiness has a significant positive correlation with physical function dimensions (r= 0/420), emotional health (r= 0/275), energy (r= 0/663), emotional well-being (r=0/415), social functioning (r= 0/508) public health (r=0/431) and there is no correlation between happiness and pain and physical problems. The regression results show that happiness 0/56 percent of the variance is explained by the quality of life among which energy has the highest share in prediction.
Conclusion: According to the findings, any measures taken to improve the quality of life results in improvement of happiness.
