Virtual tour of the National Museum of Iran during the Coronavirus Outbreak

Abstract :
Abstract The effects of the Coronavirus on the virtual tours of the National Museum of Iran are addressed in this study. The paper also deals with the existing reports on this issue, which is also common in the Network of European Museum Organization and the International Council of Museums. The reports estimate the damage imposed on the body of museums and provide some solutions on how to manage museums under such conditions worldwide. Regarding the success of their virtual tours in international reports, such a solution can be modeled in dealing with museums in Iran. The present study delves into the effects of the Coronavirus epidemic and home quarantine on the virtual tours of the National Museum of Iran. The research method was a descriptive survey, in which the required data was collected from the webmaster of the National Museum website, and the research population encompassed the virtual tours of the National Museum of Iran. This tour utilized 3D and panoramic (360°) photos. According to the findings, during April and May 2021, which coincided with the beginning of the holidays, CTR and, consequently, the frequency of the virtual tours to the National Museum of Iran increased. However, this trend declined over time because of several possible reasons. The National Museum s virtual tours have also failed to attract visitors from other countries.
