Recognition of Traditional Bazaars Structure

Abstract :
Market in Iran is a space for the purchase, sale, production and supply of various commodities that have been linked with a communication path. In the old cities of Iran, it formed the central core of the city. Today, markets are the center of the exchange of goods, the production of goods and the accumulation of social activities, and they are regarded as the heart of Iranian cities in terms of position. In general, markets with diverse economic, social, and religious functions are a complete manifestation of civic foundations that have developed over the centuries. Markets are considered as one of the main and most important public spaces in cities, which are considered the travel route, business and the fulfillment of the numerous needs of buyers and individuals. The public spaces of cities have various functions including cultural, social, economic and political activities. The importance of public spaces is broadly perceived based on the prospects for improving the quality of urban life, optimization of facilities and equipment used by users and the systems used consistent with the growth of modernity in the cities, attention to a sustainable environment, comfortable collective living, strengthening the city image and urban vitality. Considering the importance of the role of markets in the economic sustainability of society, we decided to study the structural-physical architecture of traditional markets in this study. This research is descriptive and its results have been obtained by reviewing the relevant literature.
